This paper aims to assess the risk of drought to paddy land in Summer-Autumn crop in Quang Nam province, Viet Nam based on using record of observed rainfall data and rainfall data measured by applying the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM). The results showed that: (i) In the months of Summer-Autumn crop, drought happened mainly in May, June and July, in which June is the harshest month; (ii) In the time of Summer-Autumn crop of the year 2015, the area of the relatively dry paddy is 33,858.11 ha (accounts for 54.35%); the severely dry paddy is 3,368.23 ha (accounts for 5.40%); the extremely dry paddy is 161.07 ha (accounts for 0.26%) and 24,912.31 ha is not dry (accounts for 39.99%); (iii) It is expected that until the year of 2030 as the climate change scenarios of Quang Nam province, the relatively dry level will expand to a large scale and the severely dry level will be appeared mainly in the East and Southeast of Quang Nam. The paddy land area at relatively dry level will be 45,155.94 ha (accounts for 72.48%), the severely dry level area will be 15,698.75 ha (accounts for 25.20%); 49.68 hectares of paddy land is in the extremely dry level (accounts for 0.08%) and 1,395.35 hectares will be non-dry (accounts for 2.24%)
