Depletion natural resources; decline water quality, deforestation, habitat degradation, adverse ecosystem, climate change and environmental pollution; all impacts are mainly affecting on natural resource richness especially on aquatic life as well as the socioeconomic condition of local indigenous people because of the implementation of the development projects, case study is Upper Paunglaung Hydropower project (here after project). In this regard, it is essential to implement effective ecological assessment on environmental contaminants in order to reduce its negative effects on water bodies and natural resources as well as to secure well-being of indigenous people. Indeed, it is vital importance to understand and identify the main sources and types of environmental pollution from various development projects and its effect on water bodies as well as natural resource richness. From ecological point of view concerning aquatic life; certain variation of water resources and environmental conditions effect directly on fish population density (recorded eight fish species in project area) and its diversity in nature. Concerning efficient approach to keep stable water bodies, natural resources, climate, livelihoods of indigenous people, and regional riverine resources met with requirement for food security regarding Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
