As reported by many studies, 3S (Sesan, Srepok, Sekong) basin area provides 25 million tons of alluvial annually to downstream areas. This valuable source of nutrition is playing a decisive role in the Mekong Delta\'s sustainability and prosperity. Besides that, the Mekong downstream area now is facing the risk of disappearance when sea level rise due to climate change; so better management of the sediment contributed by upstream catchment can be one of the best solution for this. The project expected to immensely improve the capacity of the government water management agencies in forecasting water and sediment yield of a basin which help them to make more informed strategies in dealing with the impact of hydropower dam development in the upstream area on water-related matters. These improved strategies will improve food, water, and energy and health security in 3S river basins and contribute greatly to USAID’s objectives for Global Development.
