Water management is facing with the challenge of building public or stakeholders’ support for water resource management. There is a need to raise the public awareness of the environmental problems and develop understanding government policies and actions. System dynamic modeling is one of the approaches which can be used interactively in a public participation. In the United States, every five year the US Geological Survey (USGS) compiles water withdrawal and water use for the nation. The most released report estimated the total water withdrawal in the Unites States in 2010 was about 355 billion gallons per day (or 1.35 billion cubic meters per day) and the total population in the nation was 313 million people. The three largest categories of water use are thermoelectric power, irrigation and public supply with about 45%, 33% and 12% of total water withdrawal in the United States, respectively. Climate changes affect significantly water use for these categories. With support from the Smithsonian Institution and the Arizona State University’s Decision Center for a Desert City, the project has been implemented within Water/Ways exhibition traveling to 30 states and 180 rural communities from 2016 to 2020. From May 2016 to April 2017, the model was built for the first five states in the United States which are Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, Idaho and Wyoming.
